T7iis prospective study was carried out to compare between the effects ofmitral valve repair, mitral valve replacement (MVE) with and without preservation ofvalve leaflet (s) and chordae tendineae on left ventricular (LV) Junction. Sixty patients with chronic mitral regurge (MR) of rheumatic origin were classified into three groups. Croup A : 20 patients who had under gonemitral valve repairwithfixed Carpentier's ring. Croup B: 20 patients who had undergone chordae preservingMVR Group C: 20 patients who had widergone chordae-removingMVR All available preoperative, opera tive andpostoperative datawere compared.
