On an attempt to throw iight on the problem of filariasis in children of Kaliobia Governorate. 248 children (134 males and 114 females) aged 6-15 years were chosen randomly from jive centers known to be endemic for filariasis (according to Ministry of Health records). Microfilaraemia could be revealed in 36 children (14.5%) using both wet smear and counting chamber technique. There was statistical significance between positivity rates recorded in the five centers with highest positivity in El-Khanka center. No statistical significance recorded as regards sex. Clinical examination of microfilaraemic cases showed lymph node enlargement (inyilina/), oedema of lower limb and itching. in six out of 36 cases (16.66%). NIA typing using lymphocytotoxicity lest for microfilaraernic cases. non-filarial subjects .from endemic areas and control revealed that children with HLA -B7 showed high susceptibility for retaining the inicrofilarine in their blood and to develop clinical inantlestations
