Abstract:

A total of 102 persons were studied for schistosomiasis by Dot-ELISA technique using adult freeze-thawed antigen (AFT). Anti - AFT IgG or IgM antibodies levels were detected among 51 out of 102 cases (26 with recent schistosomiasis, 19 with chronic schistosomiasis; and only 6 out of 37 with other parasitic diseases). Non of the 20 controls were positive for AFT antibodies. Dot-ELISA for serodiagnosis of schistosomiasis reveals that the sensitivity, specificity, predictive values of positive and negative tests to be 100%, 90%, 88%, and 100% respectively.
