Different lines of surgical tretment are used for the treatment of maxil
lary sinusitis. There still controversy as regards their efficiency. In this
work one hundred cases of chronic maxillary sinusitis were classified ac
cording to the pathology revealed sinoscopically and radiologically into 2
main groups:
Group (a): Sinuses with thickened oedematous mucosa.
Group(b): Sinuses showing polypoidal changes.
In the first group it was found that middle mealal antrostomy alone
yeilded good resullts while in the second group (with polypoidal changes)
the best results were obtained when radical Caldwell - Luc's operation as
sociated with middle meatcd anrostomy was carried out. |
