Abstract:

The increasing population throughout the world has created a demand for large extended buildings with long unaccepted internal walking distance. Movers, breaking down the large building into a number of units building or multiple buildings onto one site create very long connecting distances between these units. Maximum acceptable walking distance should be recommended as well as criteria for the design. People movers are the logical innovation for the design of these building in the era of mega projects. People movers have been successfully in operation at airports for over 30 years. Thus the objective of this paper are to define and classify people mover systems and provide guidelines for using these systems in designing a new projects or developing existing ones.
