Abstract:

Geocell is a three-dimensional cellular confinement system, which can be used to stabilize foundations by increasing bearing capacity and reducing settlement. This paper presents an experimental study to investigate the inclusion of high density Polymer–Polyethylene geocell as a reinforcement material in soil under footing which caring vertical and eccentric loads. The actual behaviour of soil reinforced with geocell under different load conditions has been revealed in this research. It has been observed that load-settlement characteristics are improved owing to the use of geocell reinforcement.
