Abstract:

Repellency, toxicity, oviposition inhibition and latent effects of crude extract of Aloe vera L. leaves extract were tested against adult females of the two¬spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae under laboratory conditions. The results showed that hexane extract of A. vera gave the highest repellency percentage recorded (78.75 %) at 96 h post treatment, followed by water, acetone and ethanol extracts which gave (72.29, 68.20 and 67.63%), respectively, In addition, hexane extract was the highest effective towards oviposition inhibition that was (96.62%) after 96 h, followed by water, acetone and ethanol extracts (78.83, 82.81 and 63.55%), respectively. Based on LCso of the tested extracts, the acetone extract caused the highest mortality percentage against adult females of T urticae, followed by ethanol, hexane, and water recording (581.92, 754.41, 1445.93 and 2350.75), respectively. Adult females of the two spotted spider mite, T. urticae were sensitive towards the tested extracts comparing with control. The obtained data cleared that A. vera extract had an acaricidal and repellent effects against spider mite, T. urticae that may be useful in integrated pest management programs in the future
