Abstract:

This study aimed to evaluate first aid training program for drivers regarding road traffic injuries in Benha city. Research design: Aquasi- experimental design was utilized to conduct the study. Setting: The study was conducted at Benha public station for vehicles among drivers working in the Internal Transport Facility and the Garage of Benha University Administration in Benha City. The sample: All drivers from the above mentioned settings were included, the total number of the study sample was drivers. Tools: Three tools were used in this study, I: A structured interviewing questionnaire to assess demographic characteristics of drivers and knowledge of drivers regarding to first aid and road traffic injuries. II: Attitude scale to assess drivers' attitude regarding to first aid of road traffic injuries III: An Observational checklist was used to observe practices of drivers regarding first aid of road traffic injuries. Results: of the drivers aged from to less than years old with mean age , of drivers had good knowledge preprogram and increased to post program, had positive attitude preprogram and improved to post program, and of them had satisfactory practices pre-program then this percentage increased to post program. Conclusion: The first aid training program succeeded to improve drivers' knowledge, attitude and practices regarding first aid of road traffic injuries. Recommendations: Continuous first aid training programs for drivers regarding road traffic injuries to improve their knowledge, attitude and practices.
