Abstract:

A two-equation energy integral boundary layer method is presented for the calculation of separation and of slightly separated boundary layers. The method is a direct one and is capable of passing through separation without making use of an interaction equation. Comparison with experiments shows that wall curvature effects on turbulence and the taking into account of the normal fluctuation terms in the equations are essential elements for the accurate calculation of the behavior of boundary layer in the vicinity of separation.
