Abstract:

As a part of the Egyptian Government plan to develop the Northwest of the Gulf of Suez zone, constructing a new port at Elsukhna area was introduced, this project required a lot of studies to reach a successful design. One of the major design studies was the navigational study that was made to verify the layout and dimensions of the access channel, the turning area and the harbour basin of the Alsukhna new port. The maneuvering simulations were executed using the ship-maneuvering simulator "SHIP NAVIGATOR". They were executed by a licensed Dutch pilot accustomed to handling ships of the size and type concerned under various environmental conditions. The study comprises sixteen maneuvering simulations.
