Abstract:

Maps are the product of surveying, geodesy, and photogrammetry in most of their cases. Mapping is the way to present the coordinates with their attributes in a simple sheet to the user, and nowadays maps are presented in digital computer form. Different map projection kinds could be followed to obtain map with specific properties. In Egypt, two main projections are applied namely the Egyptian Transverse Mercator (ETM) and the Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM). Most of the old maps are produced using (ETM). In many cases (projects), it is required to change these maps into UTM Projection. The familiar specialists can somehow deal with this case. Most of the users are not familiar with the details of coordinate transformations and projections. Therefore this article is made to help non specialized users to exchange between ETM and UTM projections in an easy way. A computer software is designed and the obtained results are analyzed and checked.
