Abstract:

The mean of this work is to develop a seed coating machine for pepper crop to overcome the problems associated from manual seeding or using machine high technology and expensive. This machine was designed and constructed from local materials: simple design available to all people, and easy to operate and maintain to increase and keep the quality, and improve the coating seeds. The machine was evaluated and tested at Shandawell Research Station, Sohag - Governorate during two successive seasons of 2012/2013 and 2013/2014. And the studied factors included three factors coating speeds of 20, 28 and 36 rpm, coating temperatures of inside coating machine and solution. 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 (°C) and Coating times of 15, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 min were tested. the coating machine consists of frame, rotating pan (seed coating unit), elbow, Joint, ventilator (hot air), switch, plug, support, frame, and electric motor (transformer). The results reveled that: * The maximum pepper seeds germination of 97.8 % was obtained with coating hot air, Fe, Zn, and Arsan (50%) elements on coating temperature of 30 Co, coating time of 15 min and speed 28 rpm. Meanwhile, the minimum pepper seeds germination of 1.3 % was obtained without materials elements (inside machine) on temperature of 70 Co, coating time of 60 min and speed 36 rpm. * The coated pepper -seeds productivity increased 188 % by increasing coating-unit speed from 20 to 36 rpm. Meanwhile, the coated pepper - seeds productivity increased 400 % by increasing seeds -batch mass from 1 to 5 kg. * The maximum mass of 1000 coated pepper -grains of 44.5 g was obtained by using coating speed range of 20 rpm and grain-batch mass of 1 kg. additionaly, the minimum mass of 1000 coated pepper - seeds of 30.1 g was obtained by using coating speed of 36 rpm and seeds -batch mass of 5 kg. * The total production costs and net profits by using Fe + Zn + Arsan (50%) trace elements were 1515 L.E./fed (673 L.E./ton) and 1000 L.E./fed (445 L.E./ton) respectively.
