Course Description:
The course aims at introducing the students to a range of skills, knowledge and understanding related to delta soils in Soil Taxonomy - How to configure and the formation of river deltas - Vertisols and it’s relation with delta - The Nile Delta and the nature of the territory and the nature of clay minerals and spatial impact on their properties - The most important problems of Delta soils from the south to the far north - Problems of extremely heavy clay texture and its negative consequences and treatment - Sodicity problems and subsequent with alkalinity and the accumulation of salts and subsequent with salinity and the negative consequences - Nature Ground water close to the soil surface - Nature Ground water close to the soil surface - Drainage problems - Key features natural, chemical, and vital to the territory of the Delta and its relationship to fertility – Fertility management for delta soils - Ways to maintain and protect the soils of the Delta and techniques appropriate service - Appropriate fertilization plans for the appropriate exploitation of vegetation Encroaching waters of the Mediterranean and erosion of the coastline of North Delta - The extent of seawater intrusion and its repercussions on the upper reservoir of underground water of the coastline of the Delta - Good Governance for Delta soils.
