Course Description:
The course aims at introducing the The objectives of this course are to study all factors that are likely to contribute to the quality of natural fibers mainly cotton. These factors include environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, light; and soil factors such as soil type and soil available chemical elements on seed cotton and cotton fiber quality including mainly fiber length, strength, maturity and fineness. The course also discusses other types of natural fibers such as stem and leaf fibers. It also handles how different cotton fiber post-harvest operations such as ginning may greatly influence fiber quality traits which in turn affect cotton fiber processing later.
