Course Description:
The course aims at introducing theSources history Arab world of modern and contemporary - Ottoman expansion in the Arab world at the beginning of the sixteenth century - systems of governance and administration in the Arab world during the Ottoman era - deteriorating Arab world at the end of the eighteenth century - the French campaign on Egypt and the Levant and its impact on the Arab world - the role of Muhammad Ali on the Arab world in the first half of the nineteenth century - the reform movement in the Ottoman Empire and its impact in the Arab world - the Arab world during the First World War until receding Ottoman influence - the Arab world between the two world wars - the Arab world during World War II and the changes in it.
