This study was conducted on 50 patients with Chronic otitis media with effusion (OME) and
1$ control of matched age and sex and we determined total serum IgE in both groups and absolute
eosinophilic count in peripheral blood in both groups. Eosinophil cationic (ECP) in secretion of otitis
media with effusion (OME) in-patients was determined, also level of ECP in scrum of patients and
control group were measured. Results of this study showed a high sighificant elevation of total serum
IgE in-patients than ill control group. Also a high significance between Eosinophil count in-patients
group. and control group. As regards of ECP value no significance was observed in serum level of
ECP in patients and control group, but a very high significant difference was observed between
serum level and effusion level of EC? in patient group suggesting importance of measurement of
cytokines and inflammatory mediators in biological fluids. |
