Pectoralis major myocutaneous flap (PMMFI and deltopectoral flap
(DPFj were used for repair ofpharyngeal defect after total laryngopharyngectomy
in advanced laryngeal carcinoma. Ten cases were selected dur
ing the period 1994 - 1995 from the national cancer institute (NCI). In sev
en cases pharyngoplasty was attempted at the same sitting (primary
repair) by the use ofPMMF. While in three cases DPF was used as a sort
of secondary repair. After 7months, PMMFwas applied for pharyngeal re
pair. The use ofPMMF and DPF as primary and secondary repair was
discussed and analyzed as regard indications and follow up. |
