Abstract:

a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, on the mood and physical function in FMS patients. Forty female FMS patients were included in this study. They were classified random ly into two groups. The first group was 20 patients assigned to an exercise program and the second group was also 20 patients received fluoxetine (20mg/day). Subjects were tested at entry and at 20 weeks. Tests included the beck depression inventory (BDI), state trait anxiety inventory (STA1), health assessment questionnaire (HAQ), six minute walk test, fibromyalgia impact questionnaire (FIQ), and a measure of tender points, knee strength, and serum serotonin level. Our results showed that all variables measuring physical function and mood im proved significantly in both groups, exercised led to significantly more improvement in all variables measuring physical function and mood. In conclusion, this study supports the role of exercise rehabilitation
