With aging, left ventricular filling has revealed aprolonged relaxation
and increased myocardial and chamber stiffness. This is proved by ani
mal experiments.
In this work, we studied the left ventricular indeces in young and aged
by simple echocardiography (Mmode) which is suitable in physiological
studies, simple handling and easily interpre^ed. Wefound that LVEDD.
LVESD did not show any significant variation between the young and
aged males andfemales. Also SD showed significant increase in agedfe
males compared to the young females and aged males. FS which goes
hand in hand with ejectionfraction showed no significant increase, in all
studied groups is within the normal value (25-40%). Interventricular septal
thickness and posterior wall thickness showed significant increase in
agedmales. |
