The cerebral protective effect of L. Argenine was assessed on cerebral
infarction induced in rats by ligation of the common carotid artery. The
degree of protection was determined biochemically by measuring level of
serum creatine phospholdnase enzyme (CPK) and histopathologically, by
estimating the percentage of infarcted size (1.5%).
In rats treated with L Argenine (60 'tug/ Kg / LP) 10 minutes after induction
of infarction. serum CPK, infarcted size % were significantly decreased
compared with infarcted non treated group (P
In conclusion. L-Argenine could protect the brain against extension of
infarcted size. |
