Abstract:

Hundred patients of newly diagnosed sputum positive Pulmonary tuberculosis %Pullout CIly history of previous antituberculous treatment were studied Jiff initial drug resistance in Return University Hospitals. This study revealed that, the incidence of initial reSiSICII7Ce 10 streptomycin was 48%. to isoniazid was 54%. to ethambuted was 29%, to rifampicin was 19% and to pyrazinamide was 13%. Prom this study it can be concluded that, the incidence of initial resistance to .W1, 1NH. EM/i. RA4P and PZA is increasing ant/forming an alarming challenge hindering tuberculosis control pro grain. From this study. it is highly recommended not to use rifampicin. i.soniazid or streptomycin except for bacteriologically or pathologically proved cases of tuberculosis in order to delay the development of initial resistance to them gag.
