The aim of our work was to evaluate the predictive value of glutamic add decarboxylase antibodies (GAD ab), HLA types, serum C-peptide level and other phenotypic features present at diagnosis with respect to the need for insulin • requirement at one year follow-up in patients with type 2 diabetes. One hunderd non-insulin treated type 2 diabetic patients were evaluated at the base line regarding age of onset of diabetes, duration of diabetes, BM!, percentage hemoglobin Alc (Hb Ale), plasma glucose, GAD ab, serum C-peptide level and HLA types.
