Abstract:

Forty hypertensive male patients together with sex and age matchr.dten normoten.sive subjects as a control were included in this study to evaluate their right ventricular diastolic function. All were subjected to careful history taking, thorough clinical examination, postero-anterior plain chest x-ray,laboratory investigations , resting E. C. G and Echo-Doppler study Left atrial dimension, left ventricular posterior wall thickness. interventricular septa( thickness, diastolic and systolic left ventria liar internal dimensions, left ventricular ejection fraction, left ventricular fractional shortening, mean pulmonary artery pressure, left and right ventricular filling patterns LE-wave, A-wave and E / A ratio( were evaluated for each subject. Only those with hypertension and a normal ejection fraction were included. It was found that, with normal mean pulmonary artery pressure, right ventricular diastolic dysfunction is present in atients with mild essential hypertension and all those patients have also Left ventricular diastol icdysfunction.
