In this study plasma fibronectin level was estimated in 24 patients with extrinsic asthma, 6 patients with intrinsic asthma and 15 control subjects. We found that plasma fib ronectin was hightly signficanIty increased
in all patients and in patients with extrinsic asthma compared to that in control group (P < 0.005), significantly ncreased in patients with intrinsic asthma compared to that in control group (Pc 0.05), and significantly increased in patients with extrinsic asthma compared to that in intrinsic asthma (P < 0.05). We concluded that plasma fi.bronectin level increases in bronchial asthma and this increased level may be considered as a signal for bronchial, inflammation and accumulation of fibroblasts and macrophages in asthmatic patients. |
