Abstract
Background/Ann: Although sonography is routinely performed,
there is a wide variation in the results of previous studies concerning
sonographic assessment of the uterine and ovarian volumes in
children and adolescent No consensus exists about the normal measures
of uterine or ovarian volumes. Therefore, The aim of this study was
to provide a normal reference of sonographic uterine and ovarian volumes
in healthy Egyptian girls aged 1-15 years in different age groups.
Subjects and Methods: Ninety - nine healthy girls between 1-15
years from galubia governorate were divided into three groups. The age
of the 1st group ranged from I -<6 years and their number was 24 girls.
The age of the 2nd group ranged from 6 -<10 years and their number
was 32 girls. The age of the Yd group ranged from10-15 years and their
number was 43 girls. Their weights and heights were recorded. The
girls were Subjected to pelvic sonographic examination to measure the
uterine and ovarian parametersaength, width, anteroposterior diameter
and volume). These parameters were correlated with age, weight and
