Abstract:

For assessing the role of circulating immune complexes (CIC) in chronic hepatitis, the relative frequency of CIC was determined in 20 patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB), 30 patients with chronic hepatitis C, 20 asymptomatic hepatitis C virus (HCV) carriers, and 15 healthy controls. IgG containing CIC were studied using Clq enzyme immunoassay. Elevated IgG-CIC was detected in 16 out of 20 (80%) patients with CHB compared to none (0.0%) in the healthy control group, a difference which is statistically significant (P < 0.01). Also elevated IgG—CIC was detected in 22 out of 30 (73.33%) patients with ClIC compared to 2 out of 20 (10%) chronic hepatitis C carriers and none (0.0%) in the healthy control group, a difference which is statistically significant (P < 0.01). The concentration of IgG-CIC was significanth babe- zr ch rank- kenatiti, p. news :anzparea a reztttby mama group. The average values were 42.75 pg eq/ml for CHB patients, 40.37 for CHC patients, 16.0 for HCV carriers and 15.33 for healthy controls.
