Abstract:

155 patients out of 620(25%) was clinically suggestive to be brucella patients. The clinical stage of the disease in the form of fever and i illlping were the most frequent in of brucellosis (P<0.05) and there were significant differences among patients with arthralgia, arthritis and G1T manifestations (P<0.01 and <0.001). The laboratory findings in brucellosis were leucopenia and pancytopenia with no significant relation ( p > 0.05) to antibody titre but anaemia and thrombocytopenia showed significant relation to antibody titre (P<0.01 and 0.05). The total blood culture from seropostive patients were 20% and all were Brucellu ntelitensis. There was strong association of high antibody titre and blood culture and relapse patients. Brucella infection should be considered in every child from endemic area who present with fever, joint symptoms and antibody titre 1/160 or more
