Abstract In 34 adult Livers, the localisation of hepatic veins openings was studied after division of the posterior wall of the retro-hepatic segment of IVC.476 openings were observed. averaging 14 per liver and classified as large.medium, small and minimum. The hepatic veins are commonly arranged in two groups upper and lower. The upper group usually consists of three large veins.right, left and middle. The middle hepatic usually comes from the caudate lobe. Those of the lower group vary in number. they are of small small size and come from the right and caudate lobes. The retro-hepatic segment of the P/C had a length of 6.6 cm and was encircled by liver substance in 32.5 96 of cases.
