Plasma magnesium level was studied in 15 diabetic patients
type H with good glycaemic control. Their ages ranged 43-58 , with
a mean value of 49.6 ± 4.4 years. Another 15 healthy subjects were
chosen as a control group and their ages ranged 44-56, with a mean
value of 48.3± 5.3 years, Plasma magnesium levels were significantly
lower in diabetic patients compared to control subjects (0.71 ± 0.03
mmo1/1 versus 0.88 ± 0.08 mmo1/1, Pc 0.05). Glycaemic control of
diabetic patients was proved by plasma glycosylated hemoglobin. It
was concluded that hypomagnesaemia in type 2 diabetic patients
may be related to the insulin resistant state in noninsulin dependent
diabetes mellitus (INIDD |
