Thirty cases of toxemia of pregnancy together with Ten
(10) cases normal pregnancy group had been selected for this
study. They were classified into: Ten (10) cases mild preeclampsia,
Ten (10) cases severe pre-eclampsia and Ten (10)
cases eclampsia.
In severe pre-eclampsia and eclampsia, there was significant
increase in serum transaminases, alkaline phosphatase
and Y-glutamyl transferase as compared to normal group, and
there was significant decline in serum alkaline phosphatase
and y-glutamyl transferase after delivery. There was rise in
serum iron level in pre-eclampsia and eclampsia before delivery
as compared to control. Also, total iron binding capecity
and serum transferrin were significantly increased in
severe pre-eclampsia and eclampsia. But,. after delivery,
there was significant decline in serum iron in all groups.
Total iron binding capacity was
5[VCre
significantly decreased in
eclampsia and pre-eclampsia after delivery, while serum transferrin
was significantly decreased in eclampsia. |
