The rectus abdominis myocutaneous (RAM) flap is ideally suited to repair
defects over the chest, abdomen. groin and upper thigh.
In this work, the RAM flap was used in 20 cases during the period
from Nov. 1996 to Oct. 1999,to repair defects on chest (16 cases), defects
in groin and upper thigh (3 cases), and in one case the defect was on the
lateral aspect of gluteal region. Among the 20 cases,cornplete survival of
the flap with no complications occured in 14 cases, minimal necrosis
(less than 10% of the flap) occurred in 2 cases, mild infection in donor site
in 2 cases, mild infection in recepient site in one case and seroma collec
tion in donor site in one case |
