It was important for the ophthalmologist to had an understanding of skin lesions that occured on the eye lids, especially those conditions that rnaY affect the eye and the skin. Among the most common eyelid lesions were those induced by allergic mechanisms. Atopic eczema and contact dermatitis were two of the most frequent dermatological diseases, and they were also two conditions that were commonly encountered by the ophthalmologist.
