Purpose: to determine the effect of topical mast cell stabilizers and antihistamines in
cases of vernal keratoconjunctivitis clinically and by impression cytology.
Methods: 90 eyes suffered from vernal keratoconjunctivitis were devided into three
groups treated by ketotifen fumerate 0.025%, levocabastine 0.5% and sodium cromoglycate
4% eye drops respectivly for 4 weeks. Symptoms and signs of the disease were evaluated
before and after treatment and recorded. Also impression cytology of the conjunctiva was
obtained before and after treatment and evaluated. |
