Purpose: Standard treatment of anisometropic amblyopia sited by most
pediatric ophthalmology texts is prescribing optical correction, and full time
occlusion of the sound eye. Here in, we report results of prescribing optical
correction, with no or minimal occlusion therapy.
Methods: 49 consecutive anisometropic patients without strabismus were
retrospectively studied. All received cycloplegic spectacle correction, but no
occlusion therapy far the first 3 weeks. If vision did- not significantly improve with
spectacles alone then the sound eye was patched for. 2 to 4 hours per day. |
