To evaluate mini- trabeculectomy as an alternative to standard
trabeculectomy in both low and high risk eyes.
Patients and methods: 60 glaucomatous eyes of 50 patients were enrolled
in this study .They were divided into 3 groups. Group 1 (Low risk
eyes) (33 eyes) : underwent mini- trabeculectomy without the use of antimetabolites,
group 11 (High risk eyes) (17 eyes) : under went mini- trabeculectomy
with mitomycin-C and group 111 (10 eyes) : underwent combined
cataract extraction with mini- trabeculectomy. The operation involved
a 3-mm fomix-based conjunctival flap. sclerostomy at 1-mm from
the ambits , and a sclerocc,rneal tunnel without radial incisions . Follow -
up was clone for 6 months. |
