Abstract:

Thirty-six male adult rats weighing 200-250 g. were used in this study. They were randomly divided into 3 equal groups. 1st group served as a control, in the second group, the rats were daily injected intraperitoneal with morphine for 7 consecutive days at a dose 30mg. / Kg body weight /day. The animals of third group were injected with morphine as the previous group and then the drug was arrested for another two weeks. The observed histological changes were in the form of irregularity of the seminiferous tubules and degenerative changes in the spermatogenic cells. The epididymis showed irregularity in the thickness and decrease of sperms in the lumen. No changes occur in the connective tissues contents at any group. The Histochemical changes were in the form of increase in PAS and acid phosphates enzyme activity and decrease in alkaline ph. Enzyme activity in the testis and epididymis. In the morphine withdrawal group the tissue regain their normal histological structure and the enzymes regain their normal activity
