Abstract:

PHG represents a clinical entity in portal hypertension and is endoscopically characterized by a mosaic-like or snake skin pattern of the gastric mucosa, mainly in the body and fundus of the stomach and more rarely in the gastric antrum. These gastric mucosal lesions represent another frequent cause of upper gastrointestinal bleeding, even though esophagogastric varices remain the major source of bleeding in patients with portal hypertension
