Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a global health problem affecting all age groups. The number of diabetic subjects is increasing all over the world due to population growth, aging, urbanization and the increasing prevalence of obesity and physical inactivity, Oxidative stress plays a pivotal role in cellular injury from hyperglycemia. High glucose level can stimulate free radical production. Weak defense system of the body becomes unable to counteract the enhanced ROS generation and as a result condition of imbalance between ROS and their protection occurs which leads to domination of the condition of oxidative stress Aim &Objectives: To detect relation between glucose variability & oxidative stress marker (8-iso-PGF2α) in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus. Patient& methods: this is prospective study conducted on 45 patients with type 1 diabetes at the University of Banha after diagnosis according to the standards of the American Diabetes Association by: high blood sugar level during fasting above 126 mg / dL and after two hours more than 200 mg / dl. There will be a control group of 45 healthy volunteers who are similar in age, gender, physical activity and BMI. Results: HA1C was considered as better discriminator than IsoPGF2a between healthy subjects and T1DM patients Conclusion: IsoPGF2α showed significant positive correlation with MAGE, CV and disease duration. Otherwise, no significant correlations were found between IsoPGF2α with other parameters in all studied cases |
