In contrast to woven fabrics, knitted fabrics allow higher productivity, lower production costs and investments, better comfort and hand properties, along with higher extent of penetration due to low twist of yarns and open structure.
Recently, functionalization of cellulosic fabrics , full white and colored, using appropriate finishing formulations and conditions has become more demanded to impart and/or develop innovative textile products, taking in consideration the quality, environmentally as well as economic concerns.
The original work presented in this thesis was undertaken with a view to search for the proper finishing formulations and conditions for producing high quality knitted cotton fabrics with remarkable functional properties.
To achieve the above mentioned tasks, the following studies were carried out:
I- Improving the quality and functionality of knitted cotton fabrics
II- Upgrading the functional properties of reactive dyed cotton knits.
