Abstract:

The study was conducted on two groups of pregnant women : Group I (312 cases) with prior contraception (contraceptive users ) and group II (198 cases) without prior contraception. The socio- demographic criteria of contraceptive users were : aged 25-30 years ; highly social; working and urban women . Among these women, the maternal morbidity (19.9%); particularly anaemia (10.8%) and haemorrhage (2.3%), as well as the unfavourable pregnancy outcome (28.2%) were less common if compaired to the non-contraceptive users (63.6%; 33.8%; 18.2% and 33.8% respectively). So, contraception is mandatory for health benefits of the mother, child and the whole community
