Abstract:

Nutrition is one of the most important factors influencing the quality of human life in most parts of the world. This cross sectional study was carried out in Gharian region, during the period From October 2005 to April 2006,to study and analyse the nutritional situation of different groups among Gharian population in Libya. This analysis included the following: I-The nutritional situation of preschool children: The sample comprised of 720 infants and children, free from chronic illness, aged from 0 to 59 months. They were subjected to questionnaire interview and anthropometric measurements for weight and height. II-Anaemia on pregnant mothers: The sample included 205 pregnant mothers .They were investigated on nutritional status using haemoglobin in grams per 100ml, the cut off point that was considered for anaemic mothers is
