Abstract |
The research tackles the problem of the multiplicity of architectural theories and practices which present the relationship between the building and its spatial and historical background. This architectural practices lack a clear critical and analytical vision that accentuates its historicity. The research aims at establishing a critical and analytical method in order to study such architectural practices in Egypt from within the framework of "Critical Regionalism by Kenneth Frampton". The methodology relies on a theoretical study of "Regionalism" and "Critical Regionalism" in order to determine their essence. It presents an analysis of the critical and developmental studies for "Critical Regionalism" and related cases. The methodology reaches a critical and analytical framework that investigates the architectural practices, in particular these which utilize the spatial and historical background, Introduced by Suha Ozkan, Abd - elghafar and pavlides. The application Study utilizes the suggested methodology on the new campus of AUC in New Cairo. |
