Two field trials were conducted during 1986/87 and
1987/88 seasons, at the Research and Experimental Station
of the Faculty of Agriculture at Moshtohor. Each experiment
included the treatment combinations f two wheat varieties
(Giza 157 and Sakha 8) three seeding rates (40, 60 and
80 kg/fad.) and three N levels (0, 50 and 75 kg/fad.).
Giza 157 surpassed Sakha 8 in. plant height, number
of tillers/rn2, spike length and grain as well as straw
yield. The yeilds of grain arid straw of Giza 157 overyielded
those of Sakha 8 by 45 and 47%, respectively.
Grain yield/fad, was not greatly influenced by seeding
rate regardless the decreases in yield components characters
which resulted from increasing seeding rates.
Nitrogen application up to 50 kg N/fad, significantly
increased studied growth characters, yield components and
grain yield.
The interaction effects, AxB on number of tillers/rn2,
number of grains/spike and weight of grains/spike, AxC
on number of tillers/rn2, spike length, number of grains/spike
and weight of grains/spike, BxC on the number of tillers/rn2
and AxBxC on number of tillers and number of spikes/rn2,
spike length, spike weight, number of grains/spike, weight
of 1000—grain and grain yield/fad, were significant and
throughly discussed. |
