Abstract:

Two simple and accurate methods are described for the determination of clindamycin hydrochloride. The spectrophotometric method involves the formation of ion pair complex between clindamycin hydrochloride and rose Bengal in slightly basic medium (pH 7.5). The colour formed is measured at λmax 555 nm. The conductometric merthod involves direct titration of the drug with rose Bengal in an ethanol water (2:1) (v/v) mixture. The optimum conditins range, precision, accuracy, SD, and RSD for both methods were calculated. The proposed methods were applied to the determination of the drug in pure and capsule forms Analysis, 23, 415-417 .
