تعد أهم مشاكل آلة العود علي الصعيد العلمي هو انحصار الآلة في الأساليب التقليدية في التدريس وعدم وجود المواتيد المتدرجة والكافية التي تشمل مساحة الآلة كاملة مما جعل الباحث يهتم بصياغة أوضاع كل مقام علي حده وكيفية استخدامها والتدريب عليها بشكل عملي ووجود تطبيقات مختلفة للعزف في تلك الأوضاع المقامية المختلفة من أجل الارتقاء بأساليب التدريس وتطورها ووضع قاعدة للترقيم لسهولة التعامل مع تلك الأوضاع وبيان كيفية استعمالها .
وجاء البحث متبعا الأسلوب والمنهج العلمي من خلال المقدمة والمشكلة – الهدف – الأهمية – مصطلحات البحث – عينة البحث – وقد تعامل الباحث مع المقامات الرئيسية وخاصة ذات الطبائع التكنيكية المختلفة مثل مقام العجم عشيران – راست- هزام وكذا استخدام نموذجا للمقامات الفرعية الهامة والشائعة الاستخدام مثل الحجاز كار – الحجاز كار كرد .

ثم يستكمل الباحث من خلال خطوتين وهما :-
الخطوة الأولي :-
التعرف علي الأوضاع المقامية وكيفية صياغتها .
الخطوة الثانية :-
كيفية استخدام الأوضاع المقامية للباحث وتشمل تدريبات ثم تطبيق بعزف بعض المؤلفات مع ذكر نماذج مختلفة في مقامات متعددة في جميع الأوضاع للمقام والوضع حسب تعريف ومفهوم الباحث هو عزف المقام في منطقة محدده علي الآلة , والأوضاع هي إمكانية عزف المقام في أماكن مختلفة شاملا المساحة الكلية للآلة .
وقد بين الباحث الأوضاع الأساسية للمقامات الأصلية وقد جاءت علي نحو ست أوضاع لكل مقام ثم شرحهم وذكرهم في البحث من خلال أشكال توضيحية وجداول مقننة والتنوية أيضا علي الهيئات اللحنية المكونة للأوضاع والتدريب عليها ثم أساليب استخدام الأوضاع من ذكر نماذج للتدريبات علي الأوضاع لمقامات مختلفة وبيان استخدام الأوضاع الأفقية مع الأوضاع الراسية وتمارين تكنيكية للتدريب عليها في مقامات مختلفة ثم نتائج البحث .
