Foundation, ground structures and underground constructions face problems related to settlement. The
settlement of saturated soil under load is caused by a phenomenon called consolidation. So, necessary
physical constants are determined of the soil to derive along with the general equations for the prediction
of settlement. The exact solution emerged from the analysis of logical structure of differential equations
lead to a nonlinear equation based on the properties of elastic functions. These functions are able to
simulate excess pore pressure transmission in the soil. For application, a series of laboratory consolidation
tests was carried out with one-, two- and three-dimensional. This study indicated that a good
correspondence between the consolidation equations and experimentally results. Also, the results show
that the consolidation phenomenon is predominantly influenced by the dimensions of the horizontal plane
affected by soil consolidation and soil permeability that behave according to three coordinate. |
