Abstract:

Medical care is essential for our life and health, but the waste generated from its activities creates a serious problem for human and their surrounding environment. Health care workers are the key personnel who are responsible for the management of infectious waste at any hospital, therefore , their proper training and education is a must for an optimal performance. To assess impact of implementing an educational program on knowledge, attitude and practices (KAP) among health care personnel working at Benha University Hospitals. This is an educational intervention study (pre-post one group study design) where a sample of 517 health care personnel ,including 159 physicians, 266 nurses and 92 housekeeping workers, was randomly selected and assigned for assessing the impact of an education program on KAP scores regarding Health care waste management (HCWM) after a period of 3 months using a pre-designed interview questionnaire.
