Abstract:

Team based learning ( TBL) is an instructional strategy based on procedures for developing high performance learning to enhance the quality of learning. The aim of the study was to identify the effectiveness of implementing team building strategies program for nursing- interns by using team-based learning at Benha University Hospital. The included subjects was (69) nursing-interns divided into two groups; a control group (35) nursing-interns and experimental group (34) nursing-interns. Tools used for data collection were; Getting to know participants questionnaire, Readiness assurance test for TBL, Team building knowledge questionnaire, Team building skills checklist, Team leader skills checklist, Self evaluation checklist, Peer evaluation checklist, Attitude toward TBL questionnaire, and Preference for TBL or traditional learning questionnaire. The study results showed that, the majority of study nursing-interns at Benha Faculty of Nursing were ready for team based learning approach during immediate post and at follow up phases. Team building program was effective i.e. the experimental group obtained the highest mean score in team building knowledge and skills in immediate and follow-up phases, than control group with a high statistical significant difference. Moreover, the experimental nursing- interns had a positive attitude toward TBL, and were preferred TBL over traditional learning. The study recommended that, dissemination the developed "team building program" to faculty students, faculty decision makers integrate the concept of teamwork in the mission and vision of faculty and integration the team based learning in the faculty as an interactive learning method.
