Background: To enhance feto-maternal outcomes, affected women should receive appropriate health education
based on motivational teaching recommendations because pregnancy-related acute kidney injury is still a significant issue
linked to a higher risk of maternal and fetal mortality and morbidity. Aim: The study aimed to examine the effect of
motivation-based instructional guidelines on health behaviors and feto-maternal outcomes among women with pregnancy
associated kidney injury. Design: A quasi-experimental research design (two groups "control/study") was utilized.
Research Setting: The research was carried out in two hospitals (Benha University Hospitals and Benha Teaching
Hospital) in AL-Qaliobya governorate, Egypt, at the obstetrics and gynecological department in cooperation with the
internal medicine department (nephrology unit) and outpatient clinics of both departments. Sample: 46 pregnant women
who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria and had pregnancy-related acute kidney injury for 1.5 years or 18 months
were included in the purposive sample. Tools: Four tools were used: A structured interviewing questionnaire, Women's
knowledge questionnaire, Health-related behaviors questionnaire, Maternal and fetal outcomes questionnaire. Results:
Following the introduction of motivation-based instructional guidelines, there was a high statistically significant difference
in knowledge, health behaviors, and maternal and fetal outcomes between two groups. Conclusion: The motivation based
instructional guidelines had a great positive effect in improving, knowledge, enhancing health behaviors and attaining
better fetal and maternal outcomes with a highly statistically significant difference between study and control groups.
Therefore, the research hypotheses were accepted and the research aim was attained. Recommendations: In order to
increase awareness and enable pregnant women with renal illness to receive the greatest care and assistance at the
appropriate time, all maternity facilities should distribute motivational instructional guidelines. |
