Abstract: |
Objectives: determine whether lactate clearance in the early period of resuscitation (first 6 hours of hospitalization) could help predict mortality in pediatric patients. Methods: 100 (mean age 21.55±32.48mo, 52% males) admitted in the PICU were enrolled between January 2016 to July 2016. Lactate clearance (Lactate level at admission – level 6 hr later x 100 / lactate level at admission) in first 6 hours of hospitalization was correlated to in-hospital mortality and PRISM III score. Results:46 out of 100 patients died. 78.2 died among those with delayed/poor clearance (clearance 30%) (P |
